Therapeutic breathing for children and adults
Breathing techniques for the whole family
WHAT IS THE BUTEYKO METHOD?
The method takes its name from theDr Konstantin Buteyko, consists of a series of breathing exercises and methodologies specially designed to reduce long breathing or chronic hyperventilation. levels of gases in the blood, reducing oxygen reaching tissues and organs and causing smooth muscle surrounding blood vessels and airways to constrict. This can lead to a multitude of health problems. Consciously bringing the volume of breathing closer to normal levels by making the switch from mouth breathing to nasal breathing helps alleviate these problems.
Η Κατερίνα Τέμπου είναι πιστοποιημένη instructor fromButeyko Clinic International. During her childhood and for several years in her adult life, she suffered from overfatigue, breathing and sleeping disorders, inability to concentrate, inability to adapt to changes, presenting symptoms of ADHD. He sought a solution in conventional medicine and abroad (UK) and it was there that he came into contact with alternative forms of treatment. He quickly realized the importance of proper oxygenation of the body and was introduced to the methodButeykoas a complementary treatment of the disorders he was experiencing. After personal application of the method to her body and life she decided to found itButeyko for Childrenin GREECE.

WHAT ARE REST EXERCISESBUTEYKOAND HOW DO THEY WORK?
"RE-EDUCATE YOUR BREATHING TO SUPPORT LIFELONG HEALTH AND WELL-BEING."
ΟPatrick McKeown explains the physiology behind the exercisesButeyko: “Dr. Buteykonoticed that sick people breathe heavily. He wondered: Is the disease causing the heavy breathing or is the heavy breathing causing the disease? People are often instructed to take deep, full, long breaths in the belief that this will increase the levels of oxygen reaching the tissues. If we turn to science we will find that it does not work that way. If deep breaths are taken that increase the volume of air beyond what is allowed, you are expelling too much carbon dioxide. According to the phenomenon of Bohr(discovered by the Danish biochemistChristian Bohrthe1904) this causes red blood cells to hold on to oxygen instead of releasing it. Practicing his breathing techniqueButeykoand developing a discreet, soft, slow and light breathing while maintaining diaphragmatic, nasal breathing, increases the supply of oxygen to the cells. This is the point that will bring about the change in health.”
WHO CAN BE TAUGHT AND APPLY THE METHOD?
Anyone from the age of five and up can learn how to breathe properly through the methodButeyko. Certified instructors can teach children to seniors. The goal is to integrate the exercises and protocols into the person's daily life so that they become a new healthy habit and a useful tool that promotes the self-healing of the human body.
